Nope, you still need a blind bearing extractor to get that out...
Before I had a bearing puller set, I used the following:-
A self tapper
A hammer
A pot of grease
A screwdriver
A GOOD set of safety goggles
Method:-
1.) Place transfer case clutch side down.
2.) Screw the self tapper into the drain hole - tight fit.
3.) Fill shaft hole with grease.
4.) Fit "old" idler gear gently into place.
5.) Place safety goggles over ones eyes - and any bystanders
6.) Apply sharp taps to the idler gear.
This will take a little time and is a bit messy and if you choose not to wear your safety goggles then potentially very dangerous.
But it DOES work, it works by hydraulics :smartass:
