Can anyone help me i.d. these pistons please? I bought them recently as they are supposed to be 1098 flat tops. I'm not convinced however as they seem to measure up much the same as 998 flat tops. My understanding is that 1098 pistons are shorter ie the con rods are the same as 998, it's the crank that alters the stroke, block height being the same therefore 1098 pistons need to be shorter?

Yes - 1098 are shorter from gudgeon pin to top surface - are you measuring like for like ? Put one gudgeon pin through both pistons and compare. Simples!!

Like others I can't open the picture, but I can confirm that the 1098 piston is shorter,
To my knowledge Flat top pistons 1098 pistons in oversizes are only available from Omega - via swiftune
There is a listing on ebay that lumps all the small bore sizes: ie; 997 998 1098 together but having contacted them last year they need to know that you want 1098 pistons as they stated they have different heights, but you need to tell them when you order.
Where did you get them from?

TAM2052 are 998 pistons

the /50 is the oversize in 100th's of a mm, so in real money are +20 998 pistons..

I had no problem with the download, but as it's a zip, you must save the file and then open it.

Don't know how much you paid for them, but +20 998 HC pistons, especially genuine rover boxed ones, are not cheap...

Depending on the seller you might be able to get them swapped or refunded.
If your dealing with a company they may sort it out.
If its a private seller you would have to prove the listing was incorrect.
Which was it?

Private seller but although it's a wrong description I'll hang on to them or relist, I got them at a fair price so it will come right one way or another. Thanks

Just thinking about this. Are 998 blocks and 1098 blocks the same height? my Haynes manual doesn't list block heights. While were at it what about 1275 block's how high are they?

998's and 1098's are essentially the same block... 1275's are slightly taller, so don't use 998 pushrods in a 1275.... you'll find out why...
