So, today me and a mate made a trip down to the MiniSpares in Oldbury to get my group 2 arches :) Link...

I brought them along with a nice Chrome british isle badge, and some edging for the arches.

When i recived them, they weren't in great condition, (they had marks over them and were not smooth) but i wasn't going to complain for £50.

When i got back, i brought some white primer & some gloss black paint for them... Because they werent sprayed either.

I placed them on against my wing, to see how they would look, and they are molded nothing like.

The screw indentations aren't even drilled, and the space for the seam on the arches is no where near to where they should be.

Im not dogging down MiniSpares, there great, im just very diserpointed to be honest at the lack of quality.. I wasn't expecting them to be perfect, but i expected better. :ermm:

I'll post a pic or two inabit

Regards,
Luke

yer, but they stated:
"These are copies of original ST Abingdon works arches.. The quality of the arches is commensurate with the price. Most arches have minor flaws and require trimming for a perfect fit. The more expensive arches are obviously better quality and fit..Arch's are supplied in White Gel coat finish "
So theres nothing to complain about..

Im afraid no arches will automatically fit every mini. They all normally require a tweek here and there.

you have to drill all holes yourself, you have to cut out the bit for the seam. and bend the arch round at the back to fit the line of the wing/a panel. every fg arch is like this. by the time you have sme primer and paint on them, the flaws wont matter

oh and now is the best time to stop expecting decent quality on parts you buy, unless they are top dollar, just gotta get used to it

I thought i would have to cut the holes and seam, but thought they would fit into the existing bodywork holes. NVM

Do you think i should just fit them, or return them then?

But atleast my B.Isle badge looks good:

I believe it is only the group 2 arches from Huddersfield Mini Spares that fit directly into the existing holes.

if you want them perfect the spend a few hours sanding them to the shape of the body. If you hold the part to the light at the right angle you will see the mold line from the original, sand to that and they fit A1

Cheers, i've brought some seals to go round the edge, so i dont think i need to. Im going to try it without doing it first, and see.

How long shall i leave the primer? its touch dry. Shall i just spray ontop now ?
