every year people ask how much will cost in fuel !!

from brands to dover then dunkurqe to the camp site is aprox 325 miles if you follow e42 all the way to german border and geting of at prum

so if your car does 35 to the gallon will aprox 10 gallons

if your car does 10 miles to the galoon will be 325 diveded by 10

only you know what you car does to gallon or what your range is on a tank of fuel remembering for most of that journey are on the motoreway so more miles to the gallon than normal town driving

hope this helps

Good work Mr Stigmund! A useful little thread this! :P

Just a note, try to plan for fuel stops! Work out your 'range' for your car and make sure that people you are travelling with are aware roughly when you'll need to stop for a refill. :-

Also, refills on the motorways are nice and quick, diverting off into little towns for a refuel and butty break takes valuable time that could be spent either:

Getting to the ring
Putting a tent up
Driving around the ring
Starting fires
Consuming beverages
Dancing like your feet are on fire :)

Also, please ensure that you've got a luvverly full tank of fuel when you get to Brands. That way, we won't have to stop on the way to Dover ;)

Also bare in mind that it can be quite a distance between service stations on the European motorways.

Hmm, I might look into google mapping out the service stations if I get time, and posting them up in here with locations for sat navs?

Or at least a map with them marked on so the good people can see them :-

That'd be a massive help if you get chance. Could be a good addition to the run pack maybe....

Its not more than 45km...here in Germany they normally fall every 30kms.

I think we did do all the petrol stations in the run packs en route in 05 does anyone still have a 05 runpack??

fill up at petrol station just down road from brands brfore you arrive there

them normally stop of once along the e42

then when you get of e42 at prum there is a petrol station just of the main road into town then have move than enough to get you to the ring as is counrty roads from there on in

also i always carry 5 litres in a can just in case some one in the group runs low ( also used for starting camp fire as is my job )

no ferry's don't like that, but ive done it many times, once i took 40 litres of diesel over with me...

belgian filling stations are quit apart,
you get a couple in the first 100 km's but then its a long time before you one...
