Hi,

Sounds fine to me, mine have marks like yours but not as noticeable. Will just reuse mine too as, like ou say, where do you stop with the replacing of parts. More and more cash for parts not really needed. Several weeks on yours then there's hope for mine !!!

It’s not too bad for a 27 year old mini that’s used daily and has been kept running on the cheap. Hence the roller paint job, with will do for no till I can give it a blow over with the sprayer.

And how knows I might just be able to get the Mayfair running and finish the dulux paint job I started, but didn’t quite finish last time.

I have good news for a change, IT RUNS!!!

It does need a bit of work still; the idle is a bit on the lumpy side (mg metro cam in a thou) and it’s really rich, but its running. Also is running 55psi of oil pressure when warm at tick over, witch can’t be too bad either.

The only bummer for the day was it still doesn’t have fully working brakes, as it now appears one of the rear cylinders has sized up.

Well the Mayfair now starts, runs and stops, so the mechanicals are sorted. Just need to throw some more paint around and tidy up a few lose ends and it’s done.

Nearly a year later than planned thanks to having serious money issues and the 25 throwing its toys out of the pram in a big way before mot time, the main body of the Mayfair is finally painted.

Its not too bad considering (yes it is dry) it s been painted with dulux and a roller and has also yet to be polished, that’s if I chose to.

Plus I’ve still yet to go anywhere near it with the polish. So its not bad considering it’s a £12 tin of dulux and a fivers worth of rollers and white sprit.

There is also a very good reason why I haven’t done the front yet; I’ve still got a tiny bit of filing and sanding work to do.

But I’m having to wait until I can pull the front end into the garden to do it, as the prick of a next-door neighbour is complaining about dust and green paint over spray on his car, witch is utter crap.

Witch has obviously pissed me right off as the dust, was is just that, dust. What do you expect leaving a car out on the drive in hot weather? Besides its not like its been washed for months anyways.

And paint overspray would be feasible if I was spraying, but will a roller... in a garage... I really don’t think so somehow.

Why do you think I borrowed a garage to roller the 25 a month or two back, with hammerite I might add Lol.

And even then the stories I overheard of me crashing, scrapping, selling it just because it wasn’t sitting out on the drive for a whole week. Still I won’t have to put up with them for much longer, then they really will have something to moan about.

And I’ll try with the picks, been linking then the same as before, but they aren’t working as before.

That is most impressive. I love the colour. If I could get anything vaguely near that I'd be delighted. I was thinking of rollering mine using Rustoleum paint. You've now convinced me. But, the Dulux paint - is it a metal paint or just household gloss paint? Thanks for sharing.
