I took the feed and earth from the radio and patched into them, my theory is as it is only to run a satnav it might as well share the fuse.

The centre one is live the outer negative/earth. You have choices on how to wire it depending on what you are going to use it for, if it's just for phone chargers etc, then it could be wired constant live through an in-line fuse of 5A or so. If however you want to use it to light cigarettes which you should be banned from doing whilst driving but that another point. You need to wire it so that it will only work when the ignition is in the 2nd position so only when the engine is running, You'll have to use a meter to find a suitable source.

......doh, I did rather assume it wasn't actually for lighting cigarettes, although they were originally only supposed to be used for cigars. I think they are sold as accessory sockets now. I fitted one of these to my daughters.

Oh, and EDIT.....

No never direct to the battery, whatever is going in there it must be fused or you will have a fire on your hands..

Yep, as long as you patch in between the amp and the fuse

If you do wire it in to the existing loom it would be a good idea to remove the actual ciggy lighter so it can't be pushed in and blow your fuses.

Decide if you're likely to want to use it when you're not in the car. If you do, don't wire it up to anything that needs they key in to work.

Easy option, is whip it down to your local garage and get them to do it for you, it won't cost much

I just installed on, Just get the earth and live wire. Put a loop end on the end of the earth wire and earth it were your radio is earthed, then get the live wire and put it through the back of the centre of the dash were the rest of the wires go through into the engine bay. Put a female spade clip on the end and put it into your fuse box...and hey presto. and if it has one of the old fuse box's as your looking at it put the spade clip top LEFT of the fuse box or just the left i am sure the left side only works when the car is turned on.

And also for good measure you could cut the live feed a few inchs behind the actual lighter put two female spade clips on each end and put a lower voltage fuse on incase it does blow it just blows that fuse so is easy to change :)

Hope this helps if you havnt already done it! if not just message me lol.

Ignoring the fact that your wiring sounds a bit bodged and you're giving dubious advice about the fuses, did you check the date on this thread? ;D
