just wondering what people use?

I use BP Ultimate because i like the idea its keeping my engine clean, my emissions low (particularly for MOT test) and maybe more power/mileage, but i haven't tested to see if its really making a difference.

Edit: Was trying to add a poll but can't do it for some reason.

Any 95 RON Unleaded?

95 RON Unleaded with additional additive?

BP Ultimate?

Shell Optimax?

if you have a carb car it depends what it is tuned for

if its tuned for 95 then running 97 will make no difference

injection should retune its self

Ahh good point. I didn't think of that, I have a Carb and it was tuned (although im not convinced a good job was made of it) on 95 RON unleaded.

I'm cleaning up the K & N filter this week and i should get my tuning a-series book too so i might have think.

I run the Mini exclusively on Optimax with castrol valvemaster plus - its great stuff.

I've experimented recently by running my Polo GT on standard crappy supermarket petrol (95ron I think). It doesn't feel as perky as when I run it on Optimax, and I'm sure I get about 20 miles less from a tank of crappy fuel than from a tank of Optimax. Although its more expensive I reckon its worth it.

IMO good fuel is better full stop.... Cheap fuel is what it is .. Cheap. more expensive fuels such as BP and shell, and Optimax contain addatives to help clean the engine and maintain its performance, in the long run fuels such as Optimax should give you a longer lasting better performing engine. Again I will use my mazda as my example, unfortunately my mini is a project and not on the road, but anyway If I put tesco fuel in my mazda it runs like a bag of C**p.. on Optimax you can feel the difference, it seams as though the car likes it more. having said that I am in the process of testing the new Tesco 99 Ron fuel to see what difference that makes .. only time will tell.

not saying this is better for mini's but it certainly does the trick for me

to be honest tho, 95 RON is very highly refined. When i lived in Texas I had the choice of 85, 88 or 92. (92 being for performance cars, and i think i saw 79 once)

puts crappy supermarket petrol in perspective.

saying that i still use ultimate or optimax, and i'll look out for that tesco stuff! Particularly for the next MOT, think thats a tip for people who might fail on emissions, running premium petrol of awhile before and during your MOT might just save you money.
