Hi boys and girls I dont need a speed monster i just needed my engine to stop smoking 2 auto shops where i live thought the engine was over fueling but after getting the head checked twice as i thought defective valve guides i was told they were ok , on investigation of the bores and the state of the plugs i suspected it had a broken piston ring, so i decided to re-build the engine, cooperman and Andyminimad took me under their wings and helped me with advice to strip the engine, this project is the re-build see Stupid Dumb Question for the strip-down
http://www.theminifo...l=&fromsearch=1

So i am getting my engine block and crank back tomorrow fingers crossed then we shall begin
i will upload photo's as we go

Ill be watching this build..Mr Cooperman has given you some great advise in your other thread. Hope he comes onto this thread and keeps the advice flowing...but if you do get stuck then this section of the forum is full of people who can answer virtually any question...Good luck!!....And remember we love to look at Pictures..

No Problem bud you are in work no doubt, i am not, i will upload some photo's as i go so it may help you more
cooperman and Andy are good guys they will keep us right as long as you have some mechanical skills you will be fine
once you get the engine out it dont take long to strip it the hardest thing i found was the big bolt holding the clutch in god it's bloody tight make sure you have the right socket and a long bar i locked the flywheel off with a small bike spanner as the metal was soft it seemed to grip it, you know the flat pressed one's, a flywheel locking tool is ideal but if you are like me i like to improvise it makes things a little more interesting ha ha ha

If you keep one or more of your old mains bearings, you will find they are a perfect flywheel locking tool..

Well Shall we begin
Got my block back today with pistons already in and nice reground crank shaft auto shop has cleaned the block and assembled the pistons used some graphite assembly gunk on the pistons, he made a point of telling me to oil the little ends well before i assemble, as mr cooperman said i have bought some Wynns thik oil addative and to dilute it 50/50 with engine oil to make assembly lube, going to paint the block tomorrow and put the crank inAttached File  Photo0034.jpg   1.49MB   70 downloadsAttached File  Photo0035.jpg   1.73MB   69 downloadsAttached File  Photo0036.jpg   1.76MB   58 downloads

I can see it's nicely settled on the hall carpet - perfect place.

I've got a big end bearing (another engine in bits which I've been advised to not re-build) for locking flywheel - got the big socket, had one from when I was 17 for changing the steering wheel to some sports thing. Sorry about the job - although I have a funny feeling that wont be the case for long.
