My centre mounted Siths speedo has the integrated fule guage and various indicator lamps. There are five lamps at these positions:
12:00 - Green
3:00 - Amber - Right Turn Indicator
5:00 - Red - Engine (charge or pressure not sure which)
7:00 - Blue - High Beam Indicator
9:00 - Amber - Left Turn Indicator

Does anyone know what the green indicator at the top is for? Mine has been chopped off and I'd like to wire it back if possible.

Cheers

i thought that the bulb behind the green light is for the indicators! it flashes with the external ones.
the red is ignition and charge system
and amber was oil pressure

the two amber ones on mine have never worked, maybe they're for the hazards?

if it looks like this one (see below) then the green is indicators and hazards the yellow/orange is oil pressure on one side and blank on the other.
ive got a diagram for the wire colours that i did a while ago if u'd like that i could send it to you?

Yup, mine is exactly like yours except that the two amber lights flash with the turn signals. If someone can find the original wiring diagram I'd love to know where these things are supposed to be.

It depends on which market/country you are in - where are you? For UK spec cars the green was used for the indicators for both sides of the car and one of the amber lights was oil pressure. The other amber was not used.

In other countries the usage was different, I have heard of the amber ones being used for indicators before so that could be standard. The green may never have been used.

Although you say the light in the green lamp has been chopped off - is there some remaining wire there and if so what colour is it? It could be a previous owner modification! I presume from your desciption you have no low oil pressure warning, or do you have a gauge?

Glad you're 100% sure of everything chrisking2021, sadly however sure you are the spec you have listed doesn't apply to all cars. You have a Cooper S so you have an oil pressure gauge, cars without an oil pressure gauge have a low pressure warning lamp and some cars have both.

IN10CT, hows about you tell us what make and model the car is if you want a wiring diagram or even some help. The wiring for the Mini changed many, many times and different models use the warning lamps in the centre speedo in different ways. We aren't psychic, tell us what the car is and someone will have an answer. Models with two amber lamps were originally intended for both of them to be oil related, the right hand is low a oil pressure warning and the left hand is a change oil filter warning. The same basic speedo head was fitted to many cars in many different ways however so we need to know what car it is.

I have a 1976 Canadian (LHD) Mini. The hazard switch is missing but I've found the wires under the dash and when I make the connection to a live, it lights the same left and right ambers as the turn signals so I'm guessing this is as designed.

The green light does have a wire attached but I'll have to check its colour when I get home.

My dash is the centre mount speedo with two clocks (Oil Pressure, Water Temp).

Should it transpire that the green light in your case is meant to be the indicator warning lamp and you wish to return it to this function, then the lamp holder is available from www.autosparks.co.uk part number: C 162 and costs £1.33 + postage and VAT. It's a plastic holder so will not short out on the clock frame. It comes complete with connectors and bulb. Check that this part is suitable for your Mini. It' 5/8" diameter
Attached is a indicator wiring diagram that I extracted from a Haynes work shop manual. It's a wiring diagram for a 1979 Mini 850, but applies to a lot of models I'm sure.

Hope this helps.
