what engine do i have? engine number is 12HA83AA

hi there can anyone help me ive just stripped one of my 2 1275 engines and am wondering what engine it is and what it came from if pos i have bin told is a GT engine but im abit unsure i got alot of stamps for u.. here goes..

ENGINE NUMBER:
12HA83AA

CRANK STAMP:
CAM 6232

PISTON STAMP:
HEPOLITE AE 20832A

CONRODS:
12G411475A 22

12HA83 looks to be an MG metro engine with high compressions not a GT engine. The easy way to tell if its a GT engine is if the head has a by pass hose on it, the later A+ did not.

thanks very much for your help i literally just found that page before u showe it me. cheers mate can you get your cylinder head converted? to lead free?

You can but I've been quoted £160-£250 to have it done, it depends on how much running you're doing, I'm sticking with additive at the moment & currently our local sainsbury's still sells LRP.

additive is better than LRP but don't mix em.
