Hi all just fitted a complete rear floor genuine heritage one, complete with heel board, sills, crossmembers etc... I just wondered when fitting the rear subframe bolts the round capsulated nots seemed a little loose, not spinning just wobbly! It wasn’t 1 it was all of them ive tightend them tight and they sre not spinning should I be concerned, how are these fixed in there????
Cheers and reassurance appreciated

I think you mean capive nuts....not  'capsulated nots'

They have the movement to allow for tollerances in size / fit

Once tight they should not move

Yes

If they are a captive nut they float in a cage so there is some wriggle room to allow for slightly different dimentions

I thought all of the nuts on the heelboards are welded in place. mine certainly were and that was a Heritage Heelboard. Makes no sense to have anchor nuts there due to the way they generally fail when abused.

The panel I have is a genuine heritage full floor panel with the heel board attached already, I’m not sure what anchor nuts are ? But the ones on this are just smooth round looking nuts and they move as if there not welded, I’ve not an issue with them I’m just checking if it seems right they have tightend up lovely but I will be taking them in and out is my concern!!!

Anyone got a picture of how the bolts actually are fitted in there that’ll probably help

Well mine were solid on the heelboard i took off, so with the jig i made they were templated over in the same position. Now if they come off there will be some serious damage.

Oh and i did offer up an old trunnion just to double check.

You reckon I weld them then? I’ve heard of them coming loose and spinning and people having to drill a hole in the stiffener plate in the rear bin to nut and bolt them not something I want to have to do you would have thought genuine heritage stuff for the price wouldn’t need stuff like that doing would you

I bought heel board ends from M Machine, they had non nyloc nuts spot welded to the panel, my dad fully seam welded them so they ain't coming off any time soon.

If they do spin I cut a section out of the sill just large enough to get a spanner in to the nuts. Ive also drilled a couple of holes above the bolts in the rear bins that are big enough to get the nozzle of the penetrating oil nozzle in.

The captive nuts in the heel board should not move and if they do them there is something wrong.

Here are a few more pictures of ho they should look.

Now before you go changing anything are you sure it’s not just the bolt that’s loose in the threads of the captive nuts?

You should upload a picture so we can figure out quite what you e actually got.
