I've got a mini 30 which I understand is mk 3 shape but I'm looking to replace the bonnet with a none lipped version my understanding is a mk 1 bonnet/replica will not have the lip and fit my car no? Currently the whole front is cut off to the inner wings which may need done as well so I can change the bits I need

A MK1 bonnet will not fit a MK3 and later car due to the hinge location. if its a MK3 bonnet that has had the lip removed then yes it will fit.

 

It is very easy to make a MK3 bonnet look like a MK1, jsut simply and carefully drill out the spot welds that attach the lip, job done.

So miss guided I cut the lip off flush with a grinder is that now ruined mate?

Is there still a piece left attached to the bonnet?? if so that is is the part that is spot welded on.

The above is a very heavily modified pattern bonnet. That came with hinges for either MK1 or Mk3, you just delete the hinge points you don't need. It was a shocking fit and took me a lot of work to get right. My lad could not afford another bonnet so i made the bugger fit.
