I recently brought a rev counter to put in my mini. I've searched the forum and the web but can't find any info on how to wire it in, mine seems to have a different rear face. Can anyone help me wire this and determine which pins are what, etc? It's a RVC , 4 cyl. Here is the back of it:

Yes, the concluding post in the thread you linked above should answer the wiring pin out connection questions.

wish i had seen this earlier, i could have asked in work, looks like someone has sprayed over the sticker showing the connection

Anyone with the Yazaki Tachometer? I can't understand the part that routes through distributor. Which part of distributor does it connects to and can I connect directly to the 'CB' point on the coil directly? Seems redundant to route through distributor.

Just connect your wire to the coil -ve terminal, no need to make any other connection to the distributor.

Your 12v comes from a switched live (behind the dash) along with a ground an an illumination feed.

The coil connection is to provide a pulse (you can't connect it to coil +ve as that is just a live feed from the ignition switch).
