I am from Chile, i read this forum for some time, and now write, i need your help for identify my engine! i dont have idea for post photos, my block say in the backside "wfm 1026" say also "10d" and have a leyland symbol! The question being asked is whether it's an 850 or 1000 guys, let's try to be a bit more helpful!
Externally, without an engine number, there is no easy way to tell the difference. Although it is possible it may have a size tag near the fuel pump boss, but I'm not sure if Chillean exports had these. Is it a metal car or plastic?
If you pull a spark plug and put a long (too long to drop right inside!) pencil in the bore you can roughly measure the stroke and tell the size that way. Please, be careful not to drop whatever you use inside though!
