Been to see a Mini project with which has a sunroof fitted, a standard sized glass sunroof, which is now sealed up with mastic as it leaked.

Was a sunroof ever a factory option or are they always retro fitted?

Are seals available for sunroofs, if not, what would people suggest is the best course of action for repairing it? New roof panel?

Cheers

Alex

There was a range of Unipart accessories, they were often fitted by dealerships at the time of purchase.

Is the sunroof like this?

If so new replacements are avauilable from Rimmer Brothers.

Actually a Discovery 1 sunroof but I believe that its the same as fitted to various Austin Rover Group of the same era, Montego, Maestro, Metro etc?

I had a car (Fiat Uno) years ago that had one of these that had been sealed up due to a leak, I cleaned it all up and removed the glass to get all the silicone off then checked to see what was wrong, it just had not got enough downward force when adjusted fully to seal tight. two penny washers packing out the mechanism made up for the lost 'bounce' in the seal from being shut most of the year, never had a problem again :-)
