They fit on the gutter seam and the grub screws hold it in place

Don't really want to cut a bit out of the seam cover.......May just got to plan B and get a set of Japanese style bracelets and use some downtown style mirrors instead. :)

That just goes over the seam next to the windscreen/a post? Like the picture I posted before?

No it still has seams.
The mirror which l have is a common one
I got it from BBC classics however if you Google ...clip on overtaking mirror there are loads out there. It is the round 3" chrome one on a chrome bent round arm. The end of which has a fitting which can be rotated thro 360 degrees. There are millions out there l am sure l just can't find a picture of one fitted. Nor can l find Anyone who knows how it goes on. I've put the item number in a previous reply. How can a shitty mirror get the better of an incredibly clever and superior bunch of guys. Can't put a photo in as my mum won't let me.

Did you notice how the Ebay description says "Ford Anglia clamp-on mirror"? I believe it clamps to the upright at the back of the opening 1/4 light on an Anglia, which is oriented 90 degrees away from the angle of the seams on a Mini. Also the clamp is asymmetrical, projecting further from the clamped edge outside than inside.

It doesn't fit.

cheers for that ...........however BB classics / classic bits/ vintage motor spares and speedway all sell almost similar mirrors and all claim that they fit on a mini ??? Also I am sure that I have seen them at mini shows ...AHHHH well
really am going back to my original plan of fitting Japanese style brackets and mounting Downtown style mirrors on.
