if anyone knows of any of this type of tunnels/hangars/derelict buildings with cars in the hertfordshire/london, let us know, always seems to be miles away :(

Love that Citroen HY :-)
Love that 124 coupe :-)
That 'Anglia' is a Prefect :-)

Plus 1 on both the Coitron and the fiat., 124 coupes are stupidly rare now. I can't remember the last one I saw.

 

 

mate of mine a few units down from me has got the citroen.

Plus 1 on both the Coitron and the fiat., 124 coupes are stupidly rare now. I can't remember the last one I saw.

needs quite a bit of work, the tunnel took it's toll on anything that was down there

The Dingle area of Liverpool is far higher than the docks along the river, so the train wouldn't climb the gradient needed to get to the station had it been above ground.  There are obviously alternative routes that the train could have taken but these route would have taken the line away from the docks, and the commuting dockers were the main users.
 
The picture below shows the railway entering the tunnel.

The picture below is the tunnel entrance today, the garage is at the other end of the tunnel. The tunnel is unique being the only tunnel on an overhead railway that doesn't require the rails to drop down into it.

What ever happened to the tunnel? Last I heard it had been repaired as the people living in the houses above were aloud back home, I'm guessing the garage in the tunnel is no more?

Me too! I'm in Hertfordshire as well and love hearing these stories, but I never hear of anything local.
