It is attached in to the gearbox on the back of the engine on the passenger side. It is a long cable that runs through the bulkhead. To remove it from the gearbox end it is a case of unsrewing the nurled end. To remove from inside remove instrument cluster (2 screws for 2 clock, unsure about others) and pull cable off. I have given a basic description but I hope you get the idea. If I'm being honest it's not the. Easiest of jobs if you have thick/big hands

Pretty much as above, if you jack up the passengers side take the wheel off you should be able to see it, if you can't have someone wiggle it or follow it down from above. It may be a bit difficult to undo so a hammer and screw driver is handy to turn it.

I'm 17, skinny build so hopefully that will be an advantage, is it a difficult job? Does the dashboard have to come out?

I don't think it's to bad but then others say it is for some reason, yep dash off as you need to get to the back of the speedometer.

Take the radiator out aswell... unless it's an MPi where you will have loads of room to get to the bottom cable connection

Best way I found was jack car up get yourself comfy underneath and squeeze your arm up behind the drive shaft and you can fight to get the cable off or the easy way take the one bolt off (using a small ratchet you can stick the handle of the ratchet through the hole in the subframe ) that holds the whole unit in and pull it out and put new one on well its out then you can check that plastic cogs in good condition and not separating hope that makes sense I'm not very good at describing stuff :)

It may not be, I would follow it down from the top and see where it attaches then you know where to get it. I don't know if this picture will help, but it's taken from passengers side, the fan belt pulley on the left and the pot joint on the right.  The driveshaft is the shaft that turns the wheels, It should be quite obvious when you look and see the big shaft coming out of the pot joint to the center of the wheel.
