I'm kinda depressed today, I just noticed tiny little bumps on my mini's paint this morning. I don't know what caused this. I got ready for school and walked around my mini, to grab a micro fiber towel and some spray wax stuff. Then I noticed it was not rain water form the night before, and the theme song from jaws just kept repeating in my head literally. I've had my mini for almost 3 years now and this has never been an issue. The bumps are on the right side of my mini, and are about 8 inches long and 5 inches wide. They are near the bonnet above my head light.

Can I fix this and what caused this? How can I keep it from spreading? Any information will be most wanted. This sucks!

They're little blisters in the paint where the paintwork or laquer has reacted to the elements. Best wasy to get rid of that would be to use a DA with some fine cutting compound, gradually using a finer compound until the paint goes shiny again. Then seal with high gloss carnuba wax like Auto Finesse

emery cloth the affected area to see if it is the paint or steel, or filler if its a mini!

You may find they go right back to the metal, microblistering can also be caused by water or contaminants which can happen between the metal and primer or the primer and paint, thankfully its not the dreaded rust! (well shouldnt be) and as above is the way to fix it

Looks a lot like water/micro blistering - happens from bad filtration from the compressor during the painting process, oil and water getting into the mix . But this usually occurs not long after a spray job. 

Have you had paint work done recently or has it just happened randomly?

 

If it was my Mini i would strip it back and paint it rather than trying to fix it.

How can I keep it from happening again, will this spread like rust?... What's a DA and what brand do you recommend? How do I apply it?  Will the paint blisters go away?

This just happened randomly, I did have my roof of my mini painted last November, but that's fine.  How can i keep this from happening?

Pshhhh, I don't have the money for that right now.

I have the tinyest bit of this by my seam, my paint is being fixed soon though so I'm not really worried

Might sound silly but is it parked under a tree by any chance? i had a car brought to me once that had "tiny bumps in the paint that appeared overnight" turned out to be spots of sap off a tree, a good polish and it came right off!

My paint came out like orange peel (hence needing it fixed ) when I had it sprayed a few months ago but I noticed this not long after

Looks to me as though it's been in the heat too long... some paints can do this.
