I just found this pic of the inside. It was taken before the juke was finished so the wiring is unfinished but It should give you an idea what I mean.

Any chance of some detail on the screen? Presuably it's a VGA/SVGA put and you're just using the external output from the laptop? How much did it cost?

The screen is a 17" ELO touchscreen out of I believe a supermarket checkout. I bought it second hand off of ebay for about £80 I think and yes it is just a VGA type that plugs into the laptops external output.

Ta - going to have an investigate copying that. Was having a mooch at the plugins for Winamp as I would have thought it was possible to get it to do what you want rather than paying for the software. There are a couple of possibilities......

Well if you need any more info or details about mine, then ask away.

There are lots of possibilities with software including proper dedicated software for free, believe me I have tried them all but always came back to album player!!

This looks so good! So do you have to take the whole thing off to add music onto the hdd? What would be great is if you could have some kind of docking station for the hdd so that you could just quickly remove it to add more music?

First off that is an absolutely brilliant idea an nicely done with the build it looks professional, nice use of your old laptop (I've had a few broken screened laptops which I turned into lap-desktops for people who didn't want to buy a new screen due to cost etc) and good idea on win 7 64 bit with 4gb ram will be plenty to run everything smoothly (as long as your cpu is adequate) I'm planning on putting a laptop with a 10 inch touch screen into the dash of my mini lol so I can use it for music on the move and games etc when parked (an I require more computing power than a tablet or slate etc) ^_^

Well there is lots of ways I can add music to it without having to remove it from the wall. If you look back over the pics you will notice a USB/Memory card hub fitted to the side of the cabinet. This allows me to add music to it either by USB stick or Memory card. It also has Bluetooth for transferring music. If I want to add music from a CD then I just pop it into the CD drive mounted in the side of the cabinet and it is set to rip the contents automatically into the collection. and if I want to make up a cd from the music on the juke to play in the car or something, I can burn one directly from the jukebox. It also has Wi-Fi so I can download music straight to it.

So there is no need really to remove the hard drive for adding music. I have about 700 albums on it to date and I usually add a few new ones every week or two.

Oh yeah mate, the laptop is plenty adequate. Its only a year old and has a dual core 2.4 Ghz (4.8Ghz) processor. I run the machine on standby mode so when I am done using it, I just press the exit button on screen and it switches off, then when I want to use it again, I simply touch the screen with my finger and on it comes.

As for running it in the car, I am planning to do the exact same thing. My brother gave me a little netbook which would fit nicely in the car, then I just plan to run a 3.5mm lead from the headphone socket on the netbook to the AUX slot on my head unit so its nice and simple and can be removed when I leave the car.

Cheers

Once I build a kiosk stand for it instead of the wall cabinet, im going to run itbox style games on it too.

Nice one. I hadn't seen yours. My inspiration came from my Mum and step dad who inherited a NSM Wizard and i just had to have a jukebox but didn't fancy having one so huge and that only held 100 albums so this was the result of it.

Is yours running from a laptop or an ATX pc board?

Cheers

Ben
