I uncovered some very dirty, nasty, and grimey gauges on my 77 Mini 1000. I took out the cluster to clean everything up. I got pretty OCD with the cleaning, even using a dremel to polish all the surfaces, screws, washers, etc. I am very happy with the results, but when I took things apart, I forgot to label all the wires, and now I am unsure where a couple of them go.

I have piece-by-piece figured out most of them, but I am confused where the rest go. I am hoping for some help from someone more experienced than I regarding the main speedo loom, and what goes where.

note: I did come accross a speedo wiring diagram for a mk3 Cooper S, which did help, although some of my colorings don't match, and I'm assuming this is because a) the wiring might have been hacked in the past or b) differences between a mk3 cooper S and a mk4 Mini 1000 Canada.

Here's some photos to help describe my problem:

photo1:

- this photo is the current state of my rebuild, everything is clean, and the wires that are in place are (in my mind) fairly certain

photo2:

- The temp gauge. I believe one of the light green wires goes from here to the voltage stabilizer, but I'm not sure what other wire connects here, and if it matters which goes in which plug

photo3:

- the voltage stabilizer. I've seen pictures of the light green wire going from here (the "I" port) down to the gas gauge. I feel that logically one would also go to regulate the voltage on the temp gauge.

- there was 1 blurry photo I found online with the dark green wire that plugs in here, that's  the only reason it's there now

photo4:

- Gas gauge. I am putting this photo up so that I can get some confirmation that they are in the right order, if that matters...

photo5:

- these are the wires that I have yet to place. Note that the 2 purple wires go into the SMALLER harness in photo6. I am curious where this smaller harness leads to, as this might shed light on where the 2 purple wires go.

photo6:

- the connectors/harnesses. I included this photo based on photo5

That's about it, sorry for being long-winded, I just wanted to provide the best possible description of my problems, to avoid any confusion.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shoot, looks like the uploader made them all upside down. Here is a link to a gallery:

Hi matt,

Heres a pic of mine seeing as no one else is helpful  :

DSCF1717_zpsfae1df03.jpg

The diagram for the cooper probably isnt of my use as coopers had 120mph clocks so MAY be different in wiring.

EDIT: Yes i have just got out of bed at 4 O'clock to take that photo >_<  now i know what the term "mini mad" means

Thanks man, I appreciate it, that does help a bit. You don't have many wires there. What year is your car? I am mostly concerned with:

- how exactly does the gas & temp gauge get hooked up & which prongs do the wires hook up to

- What about the extra wires from photo #5
