Hi all

i am finishing the shell of my mini,, and am thinking of the mk1 rear lights but my shell is mk4


i know people have done this in the past but am wondering what do u guys think of it..............

I"ve got a mk4 and personally i think mk1 rear lights do look nice. Thinking of doing it to mine :D

Hi..I did the mk1 rear lt but I used a genuine old stock mk1 rear panel.......and welded it in ........... :proud:

And to think in the 60's we used to remove the Mk.1 lights, cut a bigger hole and fit the Mk.2 lights because they were safer. Times change!

My conversion plates as fitted some years back.........as said by Cooperman we used to cut them out in the 1970's to update our Mini's with Mk2 rear lights! :lol:

Somerfords sell the panels.

You can get conversion plates from ebay or mini specialists. About £18 the pair I think. I'm fitting a pair in the near future, so I to would like to know the best way of mounting them with minimum fuss. I was planning on marking both body & panel with a vertical centre line & then trimming the light panel to fit in the body. They presently overlap by about 1/2". Other way is just weld the panels over the top & smooth off. But concerned about getting a good finish.

i got mine from huddesfield mini spares and they really nice heres a pic of them all fitted.

Ye they fit perfect just had to put a slight bend in one of them, I don't think u can get these conversion panels in heritage
