Hi there guys

When my Mini has come back from being restored, I aim to tidy up the engine bay, bought lots of shiny bits but the block itself is covered in oil and grease. When I get the degreaser on it, what colour will the block be? I've seen some that looked black with oil come out as yellow when its degreased.

So, ultimately, what colour was the MPI engine block painted as standard?

Thanks :D

Ben

My SPi is red if that helps?

It's such a shame about the engine bays on the SPi and the MPi. I love the look of some of the later cars, but Ive not seen an engine bay look that neat. The early carb models have some very neat engine bays on the other hand.

My MPi's engine was black when it came out the factory. That's a '99, but I'm fairly certain that all MPi's had black engines.

Yellow looks good on carb'd engines, just not on injection ones IMO. All the black plastic in the engine bay would contrast the yellow.

How about some tasty DSN Classics billet alluminium stuff to set off a contrast on the black engine bay? That's what I'm planning to do when I eventually get to grips with sorting my engine bay lol
