Finally got round to making a project build thread, if i left it any later i probally wouldnt of made one cause really couldnt be bummed

Bought my first mini, its an 1986 Austin Mini withe a 1275cc metro engine in it at the moment, also i purchased the origianl standard 998cc engine with it :proud: . The 1275 A+ engine has an uprated carb, reconditioned altenater, dual core rad and quick shift. what i was told anyway
The name of the car is Lee i was oing to call it after my nan but thought grandad would feel left out so named it after them both (second name). iknow it isnt a copper but i was thinking that i could have some custom centre caps making with the LeeCooper denim logo in ;)

haha O_O. Ill let the pictures talk, barring in mind i havernt started one this is a biggen (lots of pictures :highfive:)

Pictures from the ebay page;
my mini.jpg
my mini dash.jpg

going to wrap the dash in carbon wrap and stickerbim the steering wheel.
my mini door.jpg

going to wrap the door cards in black leather look padded vinyl
my mini engine bay.jpg

needs a good clean, water rust in the top right will rub off :) few things missing
my mini interior.jpg

buckets will probally come out and originals in
my mini rear.jpg

nasty dent above the light and need new casing
my mini subs.jpg

subs need to come out cause there ridicously big, 1400 watt 12" and obviously wont fit seats in with them haha

SO theres a few pictures of what it was like buying it. purchased it for 720 pounds ;D Just purchased 2 brake calipers, set of standard hoses, general bolts for engine bay, electronic distributor and a coil all posted from kent for £100 :highfive:
Few more pics;
Posted Image
Here it is as it pulled up into the drive  so excited to work on it but went to the misses that night so nothing got done... not on the mini anyway ;D .
Posted Image
Posted Image
Lad who i bought it off had some new plates made for it, dont see the point to be fair it only says mini it the bottom. would like to eventually purchased sone carbon fibre gel pressed ones :) with my name at the bottom.
Posted Image
Got home from the misses the following morning and dad had knocked the dent out and filled in with a lil bit of filler >_<
Posted Image
Posted Image
rust hole on both rear quaters
repair pannles only 8.50 off ebay so thats all good
Posted Image
rear valance hole.
Posted Image
while i was there the lad mentioned he had the original engine for the mini, 998cc with 75,000 miles (1275 has 60,000) both pretty good to be fair i think. The 998 has a stage to performance head on it and a new starter motor, all painted up so looked in alright nick and 100 is reasonable i think. the reason i have both engines is that it depends on what the insurance quotes are on both, wich ever one is cheapest im goin to put in and keep the other or if there both quite dear still put the cheapest in and sell the other :genius:
Posted Image
taken the parcel shelf out and removed the 6x9's, going to put them back in but underneath the seats, looks smarter and less chavy
Posted Image
removed the beastly subs pretty bigg
Posted Image
Posted Image
3600 watt alltogether if i remember rightly :)
Posted Image
thought id polish it up a lil, theese are provisionally sold at the moment but if it doesnt go through i will probally be open to sell again :proud:
removed all the poo from the back as i wanted to check for rust and it just doesnt need to be in there anyway at the moment =]
Posted Image
few holes in the boot but have now been patched up and welded and treated sorry no pics forgot :tumble:
Posted Image
removed petrol tank to make room and look for more rust, also so i could get to the back of the light to remove :P
Posted Image

bit of rust bubbleing on the scuttle but ground that down and treated >_<
Posted Image

removed all the arches looking for rust and what not, wings feel so thin!, removed all the lights on the front and repeaters, ground down all the rust around them too. used filler all around the headlights and sanded down no pics O_O
Posted Image

Got bored and sprayed the rocker cover, very similar colour to the car, pearlesant blue with tinge of purple and light blue glitter
Posted Image

sprayed the botls and washers white
Posted Image
on the engine now, looks odd with the rest of the engine beein old n dirty haha
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
pulled the carpets out and seen all this, ripped it all out and found some holes, new pannles 10-12.50 each so not badd :proud:
Posted Image

found a chrome momo gear knob in my draw, bit batterd as its been rolling around alot haha oh well :bah:
Posted Image

bought a new iphone case and got a sticker with it so placed it on windscreen and then realised bit of a stupid idea if im working on it theyll be dust everywhere so i coverd it up with some boooobs :w00t:
Posted Image

Posted Image
Posted Image
took apart my altenator today and gave it a spray, hopr i put it back together properly :whistling:
Posted Image
took apart all the interior, the top of the dash as you can see is f********ked sun killed it :owned:, but on the good side the but with the switches on has decent vinyl left underneath

Going abit off subject now, went down to the local scrapyard today insearch of an oldschool mini as dad thought he saw the rear end of one thi one time, however there wasnt one but we mooched a round for a while (love a good scrappy :turtle:) popped a few badges off as you do and then i found this!
Posted Image
thought it was wicked love old mercs and this was just siik so took it for a fiver, washed and polished it up to a nice shine :genius:
Posted Image
and then i had to do this hahah
Posted Image
as you can see the mini if now up on some ramps so we can get to the engine underneath and to check the underneath out.
Posted Image
thought id take a cheeky shot of the pipe i have :P, straight through cherry bomb! guna be loouuudddd!
Posted Image
and i took my fan out today thinking we had some yellow paint but obviously not :( so gave it a clean wish some fairy liquid :geek:
have some bright orange paint left over from hen dad sprayed his vdub camper T25 so might paint it in that, little change from all the yello ones >_<
This is him from the rear at the mo :)
Posted Image

Anyway i think thats it for now with the pictures i have! my engine bits and calipers are coming on tuesday as im away for the weekend will post more pictures and up date then :shifty: please please comment, all posts and questions are welcome :proud: please if you have any advice to give i would really appreciate anyway..
Cheers.
Joe - Peace :yinyang:

Very nice, and a very big project, good luck.
They look like good speakers and subs, so you should get some money back from them + if you do fit standard seats back in and remove the buckets, PM me, im looking for a nice pair to go in mine :)

I would try it or get your dad to teach you, I've had my mini since i was 14 and have started to do alot of the welding on mine, I found it very easy to pick up and the more you do it the better your welds get.

i recon for the rear you are going to need a boot floor repair panel, valence, closing panels, rear hinge repair panels for under the lights, repair panel for the rear of the quater panels

going to take alot of work! i have had mine since i was 16, done pretty much the same repairs you have to do, nearly done now! again, good luck!!

It's alot easyer to weld with the autodarkening masks, You don't have to buy all pre made panels you can make them youself, If you look at my project thread you can see the work my dad and I have done.
