What year mini do you have? If its a later one with the 2 clocks in line with the driver, there should be two wires for the optional rev counter under your clocks. They should be two green wires each with a different colour tracer. I can find out which if you'd like? Saves running wires to the coil

Behind your clocks you will find a green/orange wire and a black/white wire, these are the connections for the rev counter

yep, those two for the rev counter, another for earth, and another to make it light up.

basically yeah. The lighting might be a pain to get from the PCB on the back of the cluster, but there should be something to get earth from nearby.

I fitted an aftermarket tacho, it had 4 wires - Ground, ignition 12v, lights 12v and a connection to the coil.

Its easy to pin point these wires if you have a multimeter, just look for which voltages appear when you put the ignition on, and headlights on etc.

tested my tachmeter today with the green and orange wire, and the black and white one, and i also added an earth wire, it did work but i decided to test two wires the other way round, and now the rev counter just goes all the way up as soon as ignition is on, any ideas? really annoyed
