Whilst trying to entertain the children over half term, I found this Mk 1Classic Mini cross section exhibit in a museum.

I've seen one like this before at the science museum in London, but it's behind a big pane of glass there and you can't really get near it. Whilst this one is roped off, you can get right up close to it to have a good look. It's also pretty fascinating to any classic mini geek. There's a cross section of an A-series engine there too (in a separate exhibit).

If anyone's interested it's in a science and technology museum for kids called "Enginuity" in Ironbridge, near Telford http://www.ironbridg...ions/enginuity/

Nice find.

They also have a similar one of these at BMIHT Gaydon. I wonder how many were actually made <_<

My mate sent me this pic a while back. Not sure where it was though. You could go right up to this one.

I love the number plate - 1 ARF

I also like the fact they sectioned the suitcases & tyre in the boot.

I was once told that these cars & engines were work even to factory appentices to improve engineering skill & mechanical understanding. there a quite a few around, most companies of the 60s made them I have seen Ford & Vauxhall versions - but BMC is the most prolific we even had them at the Polytech I attended & taught at in New Zealand (mind you the austin factory was just down the road). Gaydon also has 2 matching halves of an MGB GT some times they are together as a whole car sometimes they are apart in a V or bumper to bumper. Cut-away & sectioned cars were often used at motorshows.

Haynes Museum also has a half mini but it is at the back of a display and not easy to see.
