also, make sure your not riding on the bump stops, and that your shock absorbers arent bottoming out.

My mini is i would say rather low, the front is just running on standard shocks and worn out rubber cones. The rear is also on standard shocks and worn out cones but with hudderfield spares adjustable rear hi lo type suspension. Heres a couple of pics.

Hmmm....

Not really sure if they look good or not.
The Mini is pretty low to start with !

Can any of those pictured handle a standard speed bump without being embarrassed at 2mph ?
Or even a standard country road ?

And if they can't (which I suspect) then what's the point of a Mini that can't bomb down a country lane ?

"legendary handling" relies on a decent level of clearance and properly sorted geometry.
Why screw it up ?

Just a view....

Mine can handle most speed bumps where i live and i'm always bombing down country lanes. The only time it hits anything is when the road is really unlevel and has like a point in the middle where the sides have dropped a bit and therefore when thrashing about over the bumps i occasionally here a scrape from the exhaust. Mine's only lowered on the rear so front is basically normal height for a 30 odd year old mini which is running original cones.

my sump guard normally gets terrorised on country lanes, where the middle of the road is raised, all good fun though :P

I can definitely see the point of lowering some cars - but a mini - Hmmmm.... Not convinced.
It's perfectly low enough to do what it can (uniquely) do.

You have to climb UP into a Land Rover (for every good reason) and you have to sit DOWN to get into a Mini (for every perfectly good reason).

I think the handling will always suffer if you mess with the geometry and if you lower it you
are horribly messing with the geometry.

If you favour looks over handling then fair enough but for me the handling (entertainment value) is the whole
point of the Mini so I'd stear clear (forgive the pun) of lowering the car to make it look different / strange / odd / or more likely disabled...

Set your car up properly on 10s or 12s, get the suspension sorted on rubbers or springs and it should (and will) handle better
than almost anything else on the road - it should also look "right" and as if it's about to do motoring gymnastics.

A properly set up Mini should look as if it's on the end of a VERY tightly coiled spring which is about to LET GO..... :P

well, if you lower it, i agree it will affect the geometry, increase negative camber, lower the castor angle and toe-out more, but this is easily corrected, and make sure its not running on the bump stops and itll be fine.

how are people getting there minis so low, without hitting the bump stops, ive just converted to 10" wheels.

and just lowered my car a bit and its already on the bump stops, and thats with a fat 3 finger gap between wheel top and arch.

i see some of you here , have arches almost touching the tyres.
