Hi All,
Could somebody point me towards the correct distributor for a Metro 1275 engine(12HC01AA)? right now is has a 59D (41882) which i believe is for a 998.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm at a bit of a loss with the many types available.
If more information is needed to answer the question let me know and I'll try and provide it!
Thanks for your help,
Matt

The standard distributor on the Mk2 Metro 1275 was a Lucas 65DM4 which is the one with the electronic ignition module on the side. The same type was fitted to 90's 1275 carb Minis. But the advance curve will vary on the spec of the engines.

Thanks for the reply and link!
when you say 'the advance curve will vary on the spec of the engines'
how do you find out what advance curve a particular engine needs and subsequently how do you set the advance curve? Is it simply a matter of buying an advance unit to fit the engine? I see on the somerford website there are two types of advance units that fit the 64D. One is for a mayfair/sprite and one is for cooper carb models 90/91. from what you said above about 90's 1275 carb mini's, its the latter i need?
Finally, i just found this page about fitting a 64DM4 http://www.minifinit.......f=5&t=15568 do the instructions sound correct to you?
Sorry for bombarding you with questions, but before shelling out 100+ quid on a new distributor/coil i want to get it right!
Thanks once again for the advice!

Once the engine has been changed from standard the stock ignition advance curve won't be right anyway.
Have a word with ML Motorsport, they can supply a 65dm4 distributor with the advance curve modified to suit your particular spec setup. That's where I got mine, which was on an exchange basis. But a secondhand 65dm4 isn't very expensive.

It was a couple of years ago now, but was a lot cheaper than buying a new distributor outright

just got round to fitting my new distributor (been a bit lazy over christmas!)
the cable going from the distributor to the coil YMV10064 has two spade clips on the end (one female, one male, one in a black plastic cover, one in a white plastic cover. The female white ended cable is also slightly thicker)
i have no idea which side of the coil they fit on! i'd guess the thicker wire attaches to the possitive side of the coil, but i'm not sure what would happen if this is incorrect!
any help would be very helpful! thanks,
Matt

One goes to the positive side of the coil and the other to the negative, the colours vary, but black is normally negative.
