Speedwell was started by John Sprinzel, who I am pleased to count as a friend of mine. Most of their A-series work was on Sprites, but John did supply some of his parts to Mini owners. However, there was never a 'Speedwell' Mini in the same way as there was a Speedwell Sprite.
The quality of their work was excellent. If you want to read more about it all, try to get hold of John's biography called 'Spritely Years'. It's very interesting if you have an intererest in racing and rallying in the 50's and 60's through to the early 70's.

The Speedwell engine spec/price list claims a 1488cc engine! I didn't know and A series could be bored/stroked that much!
