Ok so i removed my chrome retrofit numberplate light cover thing to swap for a regular black one ( sorry nordicmini ) ^_^
The screws that hold in the bulb assembly were corroded and crumbling, anyhoo to cut a long story short , its gubbed .
Got me to thinking about using a light from another car , i saw one from a (dont laugh) transit van which i thought may work.
Is it simply a case of connecting the wires and off you go ? I want to fit it on the right side of the numberplate, are there any legalities/mot issues regarding placement ?

Can put it anywhere. Just has to illuminate the plate sufficiently, and not show white light to the rear.

Not sure that lighting a horizontal plate from just one side would be good enough.

You'd have to light it from both sides.
I think some people here get away with screw-like LEDs.
