I am looking to change the carpets in my mini, possibly to red or black but was wondering where the best place to get them from as ive found various ones but people are saying that they only last about a week before they start to peel up again, And also can one recommend the best way to stick the carpets down on top on the sound insulation.

for a cheap carpet set you cant go wrong with the "simply mad about my mini" sets that you see in the mags and at all the shows.

but most car carpets seem to be made of one half of "Velcro" and are a real pain to hoover.

i got a nice "deep pile" carpet from somerford minis and the quality is excellent, although considerably more money than the "cheap" ones.

(Deep pile carpet :) , Velcro mats :) )...

on the floor sections the carpet should just sit there on its own. on the vertical sections i like to use impact adhesive, probably not the safest stuff in a fire and it makes you high for a week but boy does it stick !!!!!

Newton Commercial are good! There moulded like the original, but dont be fooled into thinking they just slot straight it! :) They need quite a bit of cutting (holes etc) to get them to fit. Theres also Mini trimmings which do carpets, theyre good too!

As for the glue, I used that impact glue, think its made by evo-stick :)

It would work, but I think you'd know that it was normal carpet. The ones that you buy are cut so that they go over the lump in the front, but I suppose you could try and do that?! The ones from Mini Trimmings and Simply Mad About Minis are about £40, I think, so not too dear, would probably cost you half that just for the carpet!

I've recently bought a Simply Mad About Minis carpet and thought it was great. Had to cut out my own holes for gear lever, steering rack, and around the support under the rear seat.

Think I paid about £35 for the carpet alone (no underlay or mats) and this was for their middle-of-the-range set.
