it would cost quite alot because its so time consuming! If you do take it to a recomended, well known garage because if its not dont properly your mini can litterally fall apart

do you realise what the seams actually do ?????

well, they hold the car together. on other cars they are on the inside but the mini was designed with them on the outside.

to de-seam a mini means to remove the bits that are holding it together, so you have to replace them with something that's done properly, (not sure your dad is going to like the idea of that).

it can be done but its not something that you can do with a "quick fix", and while I'm here i might as well add.... i think it looks naff :(

seems there is nothing you won't consider doing to your poor old mini :D :P  maybe you should have just got a corsa :goaway:

its hard and takes a long time because you have to cut jus a bit at a time then weld a peice back on it allso needs welding on the inside aswell

That would stop it falling off, but it would look rubbish. The seam needs to be welded solidly from behind before you remove the lip, then the lip will need a lot of work finishing it to stop it looking rubbish.

It's not that hard at all by the way, I deaseamed my first mini when I was 16, and it's fine. so long as you can weld properly, it's very straight forward.

The catch with the rear bumper seam is that it's 3 different panels so welding effectively from behind would be tricky. I'd be inclined to cut the seam back in short sections and butt weld the 3 edges together, not that I've ever tried

i am deaseming the rear of mine at the minute were the bumper is and i have found that if u fold the seam over so it is on the inside of the rear valance then put a bit of filler on the seam it is still strong because the seam is still there and u get the look of a deseamed rear bumper :(
