Hi saw this done once in mini magazine i think it was and look pretty cool apart from then they stuck a modified body kit on it to make it look like a BINI  they did it in the same way modern cars unlock there doors (immobiliser) but then hav them pop open at same time, could also do it like old muscle cars with a hidden switch under the wheel arch tho? food for thought

I thought aslong as there was a handle inside you were ok? Just, not doing yourself favours regarding an accident.. worse case then they can smash window and get into door that way?

Meh..

Wrong lol, But for MOT you do have to have a clearly advertised emergancy relaease clearly indicated, I.e under your wheel arch or on the floor plan for the MOT,

But you can just take the note or whatever after lol

if you're de-handling aswell, i'd advise to have a spare set of wires tucked somewhere obscure that run to the door poppers incase your battery goes flat and you can't get to your boot so you can just connect a 12v battery to get the door open

nobody seen a tvr after like 97,
most of them have a buttons under the wing mirror,

ok if you running standard mirrors it it'll look a bit odd, but under bullet or downtown style mirrors i wouldnt have thought you would see it
dunno how they do it tho

It doesn't matter if it's factory fitted or done aftermarket. As long as the craftsmanship is the same quality and follows the same guidlines, you can have anything thats factory fitted on a previous car.

ok my knowledge on this is ok but not perfect. What is used to pop the door ? you can buy kits on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.u...p3286.m14.l1318. Know the way this works is buy attaching the popper or pull solenoid to the inside handle mechanism in the correct orientation. ( ie the way the rod travels when you pull the inside handle) then all you need to do is put in the switch on a live feed and ground the other connector on the solenoid. so when you push the button the solenoid activates and the open rod is pulled so the catch releases and door is open but you have a problem the door wont move so you will struggle to get a grip and pull it open. in comes the popper its basically a spring and a stop wich you can adjust to your taste, then bolt it into the b pillar and now you have a door that pops open when you press the button. Hope you guys find this usefull will post up a wiring diag if needed.

well......
i was on my way to asdas the other day, and rolling up next to me at the lights was a dark escort blue mini, with no door handles, and no passenger mirror and a full body kit a deep dish wheel, everything that i want to do to my car!!!!!

so i quickly followed the driver to the carpark and approached him.
i short conversation followed after he realised i wasnt trying to car jack him, lol.

turns out that he bought the car from mini speed in surrey with the handles already smoothed, basicly it consisted of a solenoid, and nothing else, the compresision of the door rubber popped the door open, and inside there were no handles whatsoever, and i believe he had to wind the window down to close the door when inside, it all looked very smooth and lush. all he had was a remote that operated a relay for the solenoid, much like an alarm. i have seen these advertised on ebay, with a built in alarm, although they are from america.
as for means of escape he just had a button on the dash which he pressed to pop the doors open.
he told me that minispeed "advised him" on how to get through an mot with it. although the conversation was a bit brief, ill be catching up with him again soon.
i thouroughly loved the look of the smooth doors, and it definately swayed me to get it done.

Not the case at all

Not a VOSA website, but worded and set out the same as the online test manual available to all testers
