ive been reading a couple of threads about people making trailer with rear end. they cut the roof, close them up and then basically use them as an extra boot.
i was just wondering, has anybody ever cut a mini in half. and just used the back end as it is with the seats in and the roof intact. so it would be like a horse drawn carriage if you know what i mean. or even a mini drawn carriage :w00t:

has anyone ever made one or seen one??

cheers

Yes somewhat illegal for use on the public highway, for the same reason that is illegal to tow a caravan with anyone in it. Mind you it might make a pretty novel attraction at Mini shows if you were to offer mini drawn rides in one (off road of course). I'm not sue that I would fancy the face full of exhaust fumes myself though!!

Yes it is hihly illegal on a public highway, but, you could make it legal, you just need to make it so you could get through to the 'driving end' as it were, you just need to take the rear window out, make a tunnel and roberts you mothers brother.

you can make it road legal by

working rear lights
brake's on it
seat belts on it
body strething

few other things but there's no proper law on trailers aslong it looks safe police can't stop you

No Proper law??

Road Traffic regulation Act 1984 - Passengers are forbidden in a trailer or caravan except for authorised test personnel while carrying out a test for the manufacturer of the trailer or on behalf of a dealer in trailers.

There is no law governing animals in trailers though (although it is discouraged in the highway code), so if you wanted to sit a couple of dogs in there that would be fine. I reckon most dogs would love it, going on how they love to stick there heads out of the car window!!

I was informed that the reason it's not legal to carry passengers in a trailer or caravan, etc is that if it comes loose from the tow vehicle there is no way of controlling its speed or direction. When you think about it it does make sense, after all who wants to be a passenger in a uncontrollable box heading towards the central reservation at 50mph?

Then of course there is the risk of it "jack-knifing" and over turning (wouldn't fancy being in the car when that happened, let alone the trailer!!)
