some of you may know i bought my dad a mk1 mini last year, when we got it we realised it was originally speedwell blue and repainted red i think in 1988
my dad has asked me to find the paint code for speedwell blue as he wants it back to how it should be
i just searched google images for speedwell blue minis, and the one that came up on there seems a lot darker than
1. the bits of blue left on my dads car
2. the picture in the colour guide

i was just wondering if there is more than one shade of speedwell blue or is it just one is in the beaming sun and one in the shade?

also, can you post up pictures of your mk1 (or mk1 styled) speedwell blue minis. we can put a picture up then and show what were working towards and keep the high hopes

thanks in advance

As far as i know, there is only one Speedwell blue, and it looks like this:

The paint code is BU1

There are other Mini colours that looked slightly similar. How do you know it was Speedwell...?

speedwell blue was the only blue available in 1962. the spray job was very professional to the red, but there are a few small sections that werent painted, and it looks exactly like what you have shown in the picture

by the way PHWOAR!!!

thought id give it a shot in here instead of opening a new topic,

did mk1 minis have closing panels on the rear valence, like i say, my dad is rebuilding his but there is no evidence of them being fitted and seems to have strengthening ribs under the boot floor where they would go on the petrol tank side
