Hi, long time since ive posted on the fourm, but should be starting to pick up the pace on Shelby in the next fortnight or so.

Its not going to be later in the year til i come to order, but i brought some more bits out of the boxes of spares home, the centre pod being one of them. Its in quite good nick but with a bit of a scuff, (Luckly on the bottom where it wont be seen once its in) i cleaned it up and then turned my attention to the gauges.

The centre speedo is ok condtion but the Chrome bezzle is heavily pitted and isnt really salvagable. Its the same story for the temp gauge too. But i found these.

*Ignore the sizes*

I was after the Mechanical Speedo, Electric Tacho, Electric Water Temp, an the Electric Fuel gauge.

My main question is though, is it likely that a Mini Speedo Cable will be a direct fit, and if not, can i get an adpator made up? Also, how do i go about adding a Rpm gauge? (As in where do i hook it up too) And basically is there any flaws ive overlooked.

Also, would anyone know a rough value of my Speedo, Temp gauge and pod?

< A rough sort of design im after Lol :)

Just found this on their site.

7. Will my speedometer cable fit an ETB mechanical speedometer?
All mechanical, cable driven speedometers supplied by ETB have a metric M18x1.5mm thread fitting. The inner cable is a 2.6mm (0.104") square drive. In order to ensure that the mechanical speedometer functions correctly, the speedometer cable must match this type of screw-on fitting. If it does not match, then you will either have to have a new cable made or the old one re-ended. ETB does not undertake this type of work, but recommends either Speedy Cables Limited on (01693) 732213, or Speedograph Richfield on (0115) 926 4235.

So is that the right fitting? And if not it looks like i need to get hold of this, Speedy Cables. (I think ive seen the name on the fourm before but not sure)

You will require a custom cable....

The alternative is to use an electric speedometer which will run from a pulse generator, usually a sensor mounted on a drive shaft or would suggest rear hub, lot easier and in the long run cheaper than mucking about with custom cables..

Have yo had a look at what Caerbont have to offer ( re-makers of the Smiths brand )

Hi thanks for the reply, i was going to stick a line in at Speedy cbales to just get a new end stuck on a Mini cable - All sorted now.

But the problem now is, a tacho. I was talking to my brother yesterday and hes quite clued up on electrics anyway, but he mentioned you can hook up the tacho to the alternator or the coil. Yay or nay?

And is the Fuel sender and the Water temp ok being electrical gauges?

Cheers

The Tach' takes a feed from the Coil, not the alternator... or from the ECU if one is fitted...

Thats great cheers mate, much appreciated.

Ive jus got a reply from Europa, they're a great rsource for those of you that didnt know of them. All sorts of spares for all sorts of classics. They do a centre pod with no holes cut, £29 in the leather grain effect, ordering one hopefully in the next couple weeks so i might stick a few pictures of the finished result.

Thanks
