Having got a considerable stone chip in my windscreeen the other day i need a new one. I've been considering getting a front screen with the tinted top strip, but I can't find any pictures to help me decide if i want one or should just get a clear one. So has anyone got one fitted? How does it look?

Thanks

i've got one fitted to my mini.

Can't really see it in the picture but i think it looks really good, great improvement on a clear one.

They are available but some Police and some MOT inspectors are of the opinion that they are illegal because the Mini screen is so small that the strip is the line of sight. I'm not certain on the actual rules regarding this though.

As long as the tint allows in 70% of the light in the front 3 windows I think you should be ok, I've got a fully green tinted windscreen which is a marked improvement over the standard clear!

No the issue with sunstrips is covered by a different rule that relates to the area of the windscreen ahead of the driver that must remain clear. It's not the same rule as general window tinting. Because suntrips are heavier than a 30% tint they don't count as tinting but as an obstruction to your view.

As long as it is "E" Marked or "BS" Marked then there is nothing they can do as it means that it has been manufactured and tested to conform to the agreed standard.
