Just wondering if anyone has retro fitted projector lamps for using HID's?
i bought a pair of clear fronted angel eye's a while back, and have ahd the idea of retro fitting some projectors so that i can use hid's. reason being the car is a daily driver and of course at the minute alot of nite time driving.

so ive found a kit that includes the projectors and the full hid's and now im going to attempt to retro fit! i know these wont be MOT legal or even road legal as i dont now how the beam patteren will shine, but i think its worth a go!

heres the kit ive found, hopefully have it soon, if anyone is interested in doing this i will document the process if it will help!
this is a bi-xenon kit with H4 fitment-

this is what ive been thinking about for a long time paul, alot of one's just bung hid's into standard headlights and it throws beams here there an everywere, blinding everyone else. hids are supposed to be enclosed in a projector beam unit and providing they are fitted properly and the beams set correctly there shudnt be a problem!

i fitted angel eyes to a 97 clio i had and put sum hid's in them, when the beam was set they were perfect, the light was amazing and didnt dazzle other drivers.
so fingers crossed it works with these.

It might be wise to try and build them into some spare headlamp bowls. This way you can throw the standard lamps back in come MOT time.

I was just planning on fitting a normal HID kit and adjusting the headlight aim so its abit lower. I don't see why you should need to change the lens pattern or fit a projector unit because all your doing is changing the bulb to something brighter; so surely its going to be the same beam as the previous halogens but just brighter and bluer.

That kit looks interesting though, where that from?

from what i know mike, hid's require a projector unit to create the correct beam pattern. a friend put hid's in a 2003 307, clear lens lights but no projectors, took it for an MOT an wen they tested the lights, he got called over an asked "what the f*** kind of bulbs do u have in there?"" the beam is no were near were it should be!?

Just found the kit you've put pictures up of. I can see choices of bulb fitment, but not colour/brightness. Normally with HIDs you get a choice of 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12K brighness levels. Did you get that with your kit?

Also when fitting these, i take it you'll need to just take the lens off the headlight to get the projector unit in?

See it'd be 6k i'd be after. 4k are abit too white and 12k are near enough purple! 6k just night subtle blue more like factory fitted zenons...
