1 - 3 - 4 - 2. Everyone knows that.

However, on the coil pack there is 1, 2, 3 and 4 printed by the leads.

So am I right in thinking that on the coil pack...

1 = #1 cylinder
2 = #3 cylinder
3 = #4 cylinder
4 = #2 cylinder

#1 cylinder being water pump end.

Why am I only firing on two cylinders then?

Arg!

Coil packs wire up as per the numbers

1>1
2>2
3>3
4>4

the numbers will refer to the plugs if you've wired up the LT connection to match. There are only 2 firing "events". 1+4 & 2+3. If you're getting sparks just swap one pair over with the other.

Sorry I'm confused. Do what? What's the LT connection? Swap what and what?

Its wasted spark so the coil pack fires in pairs 1+4 & 2+3

Either swap the 2 outside low voltage wires to the coil pack or swap ht leads 1&4 with 2&3

If your only firing on 2 cylinders, which ones?

Possible cause of 2 cylinders is one of the trigger wires to coilpack not connected, one side of the coil pack has died

I'l try swapping the leads.

So put the current leads that are on coil pack 1&4 to 2&3. So swap 1 to 2 and 4 to 3 basically?

yup, if its only firing on one bank ie 1&4 swap the low voltage wires on the coilpack over, if the other bank fires the coilpack is working and the fault is in the trigger wire

Ok, swapped the leads. Got it started after a LOT of jump leads, choke, general effort. It's still firing on two cylinders though.

This is REALLY REALLY anoying me now.

What's next?

possible dodgy coil or EDIS unit. check your wiring.

Make sure the pip and saw wires are the right way around (although they can be disconnected for testing), and the crank trigger wires

Then

To check the coil pack

Run the car and check which pair is firing then let us know which

Swap over coil A and coil B wires (1&3 on the coil pack)

Then run the car again and report back which plugs are firing

Right ok, so should I test this with the pack in;

1 = #1 cylinder
2 = #3 cylinder
3 = #4 cylinder
4 = #2 cylinder

or

1>1
2>2
3>3
4>4

Thank you for all your help by the way!!

I'd go 1>1 2>2 etc so it makes any diagnosis easier later on but as long as you consistant it should really matter

To start with remove plugs 1 & 3 from the head and see if you have a spark on both
