Here's Bonzo. An eBay aquired 1986 Mini Chelsea, bought for a mere £123.

For the first part of his life with me, he was pretty much a go kart. I spent the whole of summer 2006 bombing him round a field, easily the most fun i've ever had.

This kinda leads onto how i named him. Led Zeppelin was the soundtrack of 2006 for me (and the soundtrack of my life to be honest). All i think of when i think of summer 2006, is that Mini Chelsea and "Good Times Bad Times" (First song off Zep's first album).

So after buying him at the age of 12, and having lots of fun with him. The thoughts of restoring him arose in my head. I put him in a stable, and not knowing what i was doing, slowly took him apart (which explains why all of the nuts, bolts and screws are missing! :D)

Nowadays, he looks like this.

He has since been moved from the stable (as you can see), into an open fronted barn. (The stable was too damn dark to see anything, and there wasnt a huge amount of room!).

The original plans where to retro this Mini up. But after thinking long and hard about that, i've decided originality is the way to go.

Someone once told me way back, that they had contacted the dvla at one point, to ask how many where left (he'd done this around 2003/4 time) he said that when he asked, they came back with the figure that there where about 500 left (out of the 1500 production run). So this is another reason to go back to original, there cant be many left now at all! so all the posts you see of me planning things, now mean nothing. Its' original now, retro is happening to the mayfair

Many thanks for reading!

Jono.

As for the exterior.. It will be mk1'd. I.E bumpers, grille rear lamps bootlid etc.

Plus ill be having wood and pickett wheelarches with 10x6 deep dish minilites.

Interior wise, this is my inspiration..

Posted Image

That's an E-Type interior for all those that dont know! exept the whole thing will be trimmed in black vynil, including the roof lining. Some people might think thats a bit overkill but i like the idea. I'll be sticking some cobra classics in there as well as an italian job style 3 point rollcage.

So really.. a combination of 2 great cars >_<

Thanks for the interest!

I love that interior. >_<

I think all black might look a bit dull with no colour.
Anyway good luck with the project

Sounds like it'll be good when fixed up! But don't you worry about the insurance costs? or you going to sell it on when fixed?

:shy:

Good luck!!
