As a above... i have a qu, first lemme be clear i'm not slagging off or denying the quality or minispares products...

I just wanted to know if people who have used these have ever come across any problems with them? The other day i built up my gearbox and i took it to BES (bromsgrove engine services) today, who are a very reputable company and have been doing mini stuff for years and race in miglias too. Anyways i took it there to get them to check it for me and do up my end nuts and he asked what baulk rings i used, and i said i used these ones...

http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=37304

.. with my clubman gearkit. And he said that he's always had problems with any non-gen baulk rings and after a couple of months they'll start to crunch. He says he can do a little modification to them to make them much better. I do trust him, but it means i've got to rip the gearbox apart again after just re-building it with brand new everything, but it would seem silly when i've spent so much time and effort making sure everythings perfect to go and risk messing it all up with these rings... but i wanted to know if anyone else has ever experienced this problem with these baulk rings, as it does say these have been developed with competition in mind? leaving me a little confused?

Help would be appreciated thanks :-

Dan

yea those where the two people i had in mind to be honest when i said builders, but i'm thinkin there must be a few others who have built their own gearboxes or have been running gearboxes with said parts who could offer their opinions too.

Thanks tho, i will fwd'd this to them :-

to be honest, I only use the genuine baulk rings - i have had problems with non-genuine in the distant past... am sure others have different experiences however.. Give them a whirl and see how you get on...

Dave

Thanks, thanks to GW too he PM'd me. I took em out anyway and the guy modified them a bit, he said they should be sweet now, woop. Didn't think it would be worth taking the risk in the end. Would still be interested to know if anyone has built a gearbox any rings other then gen, and what the outcome was?

cheers, dan
