I remember walking round that marquee at the show!
More great pictures, thanks for posting.
I think if you contact either the editor of Miniworld or Mini Magazine they would probably be very interested in publishing some of these unique old photos......perhaps in a feature on the 1979 Mini 20th at Donnington.

I have an advert for this conversion in the 1966 2nd edition of 'Tuning a Mini' by Clive Trickey a well known Mini 7 racer who used to write for Cars & Car Conversions magazine.

Quote:
" A complete "Do-it-yourself" conversion kit in primer finish only - can easily be sprayed and fitted in a few hours" £24 complete including packing.

So lots are sadly not found, but some are - can someone confirm for me, if the date of liability is ages ago (like the one above, 1985), but it doesn't say SORNed, (instead it says unlicensed), does this mean the vehicle is off the road, but since before the SORN requirements came in?!

I assume that as tax free vehicles have to have a tax disc they will show as currently taxed on the DVLA's system?

I might be getting a bit obsessive!

Thanks for doing the searches..........interesting but sadly if the date of liability is ages ago (ie. last taxed) it often indicates the vehicle has been scrapped although it is possible some are sitting in a garage unused and untaxed somewhere but before the current Sorn rules came in to force.

Thanks mab01uk - I suspected might be the case, so it seems likely that most of these minis are resting in a special place where tired minis go to sleep.

But SVD 252R (Mike's Mini's six wheeler) might still be around unless the plate was sold or something. And if 526 SYB is rumoured to be alive and being made well, then who knows, maybe some of the others are too. Either way, great to have some history in pictures, thanks again Old Drag Racer, I'm sure you can see how appreciated your photos are here at TMF ...
